From research to real-world impact

Science that doesn’t stop at theory — it becomes technology, applications, and solutions.

Beyond Publications

LaDIS was built to go beyond publishing. Our research produces tools, technologies, data systems, start-ups, mission-grade instruments and collaborative breakthroughs — all rooted in scientific excellence and shared purpose.

What we publish is just one part of the story. What we deliver — in labs, in clinics, in industry and in orbit — is what defines us.

Key Metrics

€9+ in competitive funding secured since 2018

400 indexed publications, most of them in Q1/D1 journals

3 active contributions to space missions (NASA, ESA, JAXA)

2 spin-offs launched from core research

5 strategic research lines delivering cross-sector results

Dozens of national and international collaborations

Publications and Scientific Output

LaDIS teams publish regularly in high-impact journals spanning physics, biomedicine, climate science, quantum technologies and planetary exploration.

Our interdisciplinary output reflects both theoretical innovation and experimental rigour — from models of cosmic structure formation to clinical applications of AI and biosensors

Technology Transfer and Spin-offs

Our research doesn’t stay in the lab. It moves into the world via patents, licences, industrial partnerships and start-ups:

CellDrive 3D: Biotech spin-off developing custom-designed scaffolds for regenerative medicine

Technical Proteins Nanobiotech: Commercialisation of advanced protein-based biomaterials

Sensor systems and diagnostic platforms co-developed with hospitals and private tech labs

Joint innovation programmes with ESA BIC and national incubators

Space Mission Contributions

LaDIS-developed instrumentation is currently integrated into three space missions. These tools are validated in lab conditions and in Mars-analogue environments, then adapted for applications in health, environment and industry:

Mars 2020 (NASA):

Raman-based sensors co-designed by ERICA researchers

ExoMars (ESA)

Multi-sensor systems for mineralogical and chemical analysis

MMX (JAXA)

Instruments for sample return and planetary surface diagnostics

Sector Impact Overview

At LaDIS, impact goes far beyond academic output. Our work results in tangible innovations: from biomedical devices and space-ready instruments to digital platforms and tech spin-offs. We create tools that serve clinics, research labs, and global missions — translating scientific insight into real-world solutions. What we publish matters. But what we deliver defines us.
